Biggest Jump Of The Week: Backstreet Boys - Don't Go Breaking My Heart (+14)

Debuts

~ The lowest debut was Let Me Down Slowly at #34. I haven't listened to it that much, but I already like the way he structured this song. His voice fits well with it and I really hope this will stay a while.

~ Next is Nervous. Already better than In My Blood, he really should have done these types of energetic songs from the start. (It's funny because of the name and the sound.) Knowing Shawn Mendes' history, this one should do pretty well, but will probably only peak somewhere around #13 or #12 given its status as not a lead single.

~ Sunflower, I really don't know what to say about you. It's nice hearing a song that's shot up meteorically in popularity and is actually pretty decent enter, and I like Mr. Lee's presence on this song, but don't let it Swae you (sorry) from the fact that it's Post Malone. Seriously. The only reason this will peak as high as it will is because it's Post Malone.

~ Lastly, we have the beautiful, amazing, alluring and near-perfect... Consequences. (You thought I would say Camila, didn't you? Sick bastard.) But seriously, this song is the best. She certainly did a great job writing this and was able to show off her vocal capabilities in the best way. The soft, piano-like tone of the song fits perfectly with a singer like her and she made it work spectacularly. I certainly hope this one stays a long time, and knowing Camila, her captivation will keep this around for quite a while.

Blurb Me Down Slowly (yes, I will do the cringy titles as well. Try and fucking stop me)

~ This is perhaps the best Top 5 so far in the 3 weeks I've been back. Save for our #1, I certainly wish Happier would have stayed there.

~ Without Me at #3 is honestly not a surprise, and I'm with the consensus that she could have done better with this song. Hopefully it won't spend too long at the top when it eventually gets there. Five weeks or more and it's going in orange.

~ Turn Anne-Marie around. (This blurb presented by 2002 GANG)

~ Broken even moving up one spot still gets on my nerves. I'll say it again: This song should not be on this countdown.

~ However, breathin making a move towards the top excites me. Ariana needs a #1 song off Sweetener, and this one should do the trick.

~ Aaaaand Girls Like You is moving back up. I have grown into this song, but only a touch. Cardi B's verse is still the best part of it, but Maroon 5 still sucks ass.

~ Thank you so much, Hits 1, for #23-#28! Easily the best section of the countdown not the top 10.

~ The Middle dropped. Enough said.

~ Shame that I Wanna Know is on its way out. It was quite decent.

~ But obviously the big pleasure of the week is Kamikaze taking a tumble all the way towards the bottom. You wanna know why I hate it, WAMB10? Well, lyrically it's okay, but just his voice combined with the pattern of the song just grates on me in the absolute worst way. And the fact that Alt Nation and others have kept it around ALL SUMMER is also super annoying. Please get this song off the countdown as fast as possible.

~ Delicate is still here, and I'm honestly not complaining. Too hard.

~ With Consequences debuting, this mean's we'll say goodbye to Beautiful real soon. I can certainly understand given my love of the former, but Beautiful definitely deserved better.

~ And speaking of big pleasures, we finally got rid of the steaming piece of dog shit that was Drew Barrymore. Just never let this song be anywhere anymore. People's ears need to be spared.

~ On the topic of recent exits, while I was writing that last blurb, Happy Now played on TV. Like I said last week, this was far better than Lost in Japan and I'm praying for the small chance that it re-enters. (Don't hate me, I swear.)

~ Finally, as expected, let us pay our respects to Heart to Break. This song graced our airwaves for a good 2 or 3 months and peaked at #23. For a first time artist, that wasn't bad. Listening to her other songs, none seemed to be quite as good as this one. So to Hits 1 and "Miss" Petras - thank you for its time and I hope to hear it again soon at least somewhere.

Top 5 Picks:

1.
Anne-Marie - 2002
2. Marshmello/Bastille - Happier
3. Camila Cabello - Consequences
4. Silk City/Dua Lipa - Electricity
5. Benny Blanco/Halsey/Khalid - Eastside

Bottom 5 Picks:

1.
Walk The Moon - Kamikaze
2.
Dan + Shay - Tequila
3. Zedd/Maren Morris/Grey - The Middle
4.
lovelytheband - Broken
5. Maroon 5/Cardi B - Girls Like You

That's it for me this week, and writing this was as fun as I remember.
